Rain Lilies

September 2, 2009

My yard is sprinkled with Rain Lilies this week.

IMG_4604-1Rain Lilies lie dormant for most of the year below the grass. A few days after a rain they appear like magic. The blossoms open slowly at dusk, gradually expanding during the night to appear in full flower the next morning.IMG_4605

Both the rain and the lilies are welcome sights here in San Antonio.
