UFO- Finally Finished

January 25, 2008

These quilts were originally one quilt pieced by a quilter in the 1970’s. The top was put into storage and forgotten about until recently. The piecer’s daughter pulled it out, decided she would like to make it a gift to her nephew’s twins, born in December, 2007, and brought it to me.

I cut the top in half and backed each with flannel, one pink and one blue. Terry Twist quilting in the blocks holds the layers together and flannel binding finishes the edges.

The icing on the cake is the matching labels which Debra stitched up for the backs.

It is so good to see this top finished up.

  1. Oh, these are really sweet quilts!

  2. Deb, those really turned out great! and what a good use for the quilt tops. I love the labels-they look so perfect for the project. I am sure they will be treasured.

  3. Lovely idea … lovely quilts. Thanks for sharing them.

  4. This really is wonderful. Everyone should be so pleased, and as Debra says, they’re something to treasure.

  5. What a fabulous way to finish and use those quilts. Beautiful.
