  1. that’s very true! Once the mind is warmed up and thoroughly involved in the project at hand, more information seems to flood in and be absorbed. I really believe this!


  2. This is one of my all-time favorite paintings! Maybe Matisse has a general appreciation among quilters for his use of color and graphic aspects. I’ve sometimes wondered about making a cloth version. I was fortunate enough to see it at The Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia, 2 years ago, and it knocked me out. I’d seen it in print before, but had no idea of its size–71 x 87. It’s enormous and therefore all the more impressive.
