I planted this vine in my back yard last year and it immediately died. Or at least I thought that it died. Our recent spring rains have apparently brought it back to life.
Can any of you gardeners out there name what flower it is?

Looks like a clematis to me.
Clematis, I planted one too, but it really did die, this year I planted a honey suckle in the same location, let’s see if it makes it through our April cold snap!
Clematis – probably a Jackmanii variety. They’re cold hardy, prefer “cold feet and hot heads” so keep the ground below it mulched well (or even shaded with other plantings, and give the leaves and vines plenty of sun. When it takes hold, you might see it grow as much as 2 or 3 inches a day.
Whatever it is, it is very pretty!
Yes, my dear, it is a clematis (cleh-MAT-us in the US South; CLEM-i-tus in England). They do that dying act–you swear they’re done for–and then they resuscitate themselves. They do like for their roots to be cool, so it does well behind a shrub, or something that shades its “feet.”
