I drove up to Hill Country for a while this week. I love getting away from the city and out into the country. It is so beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Christina and I took a walk down to the Guadalupe River. I hope that you enjoy the photos.

I’m not going to make it to IQF in Houston this week
So I am enjoying reading others accounts of the show, classes and goings-ons. Please keep the reports coming!

Do you have Christmas presents that need to be quilted? I currently have openings and can have your quilts ready for Christmas. Don’t wait!! Drop me an email and let me know what I can do for you!
I have my Roman Stripes lap quilt on the table right now. Here is a sneak peek.

Half way through I had the idea of using a variegated thread for those feathers; pinks, greens and oranges. Wouldn’t that have been yummy?! Maybe another time…
Have a great day!
Woo-hoo! Robbing Peter to Pay Paul is completely pieced. Now it is going into the line-up for the quilting table. I’m looking forward to quilting it.

Since I finished up that top I took some time yesterday to clean the Viking and install a new needle. I’m not sure how often I am supposed to do that but I try to do it every time I finish a project. How often do y’all replace your needles in your DSM?

I made a little progress on Autumn Jewels this week too. I made up the necessary templates and I pieced the first leaf. As I was assembling it I was a little frustrated, thinking that it was not going to work. But now that the first one is together I think that the pattern works fine. I just need to think about the seam allowances and decide which direction I want each one to lay. I also have quite a bit of bulk under the stem of the leaf from the seams on both sides of it. I may have to figure out a way around that.

I didn’t really get a lot accomplished this week but finishing up the Robbing Peter to Pay Paul top makes me feel like I accomplished a lot!
While Galvestson Bay was gray and muted outside,

our little classroom was colorful and intense inside.

Sherry Rogers Harrison’s techniques and tips were treasures but what I found most helpful was her philosophy for approaching the design of quilting; taking the time to do it right. As you can see from some of these photos she spends a lot of time quilting!

Thank you, Sherry, for sharing your day with us!
